Your workflows trigger automatically (or manually), process your scans, and deliver the results where you need them.
One last thing, Prizmo Remix is actually bundled together with Prizmo, the in-depth scanned document editor, meaning that buying one gets you the other one for free. That's twice the fun!
Connect your scanner
The first step needed to process scanned documents in Prizmo Remix is to configure the scanner app to send its outputs to Prizmo Remix. This is easily achieved in the Brother iPrint&Scan app or Fujitsu's ScanSnap™ Home. If your scanner app does not support sending to a destination app, you can always drop the scanned files directly to the intended workflow in Prizmo Remix.
When configuring the scanner app, use a sufficient scanning quality and let Prizmo Remix handle possible reduction and compression directly in its workflow. Also, disable all OCR option in the scanner app, as Prizmo Remix typically is both quicker and more accurate. And you'll get faster overall scanning when handling large batches.
Then just hit 'scan'. When Prizmo Remix launches, you'll see pending documents and you just need to pick a particular workflow to handle your scanning session (receipt, archives, or old photos, etc.). That's it. Of course, there are plenty of workflow options to review to fine-tune outputs, from quality, to automatically triggering a particular workflow with file naming, or executing custom scripts. Possibilities are limitless.
Document intelligence and AI classifier
Processing a large number of scanned documents requires appropriate automation tooling. Prizmo Remix provides integrated support for Apple Intelligence (macOS Tahoe is required) that will extract documents titles and date, which, in turn, can be used to name output files.
Beyond metadata extraction, Prizmo Remix comes with an integrated AI classifier that allows you to automatically tag your own documents. Scan an Ikea invoice for instance and mark it as such, then all new Ikea invoices will be tagged that way, which can serve to name files. And just a single example is enough, as Prizmo Remix is a fast learner.
Metadata extraction and the classifier run locally on your device, which means that 1. they're always available and 2. all data remains completely private. That's the best way to opt out of of the open bar approach for your content, will full safety and privacy.
Control for OCR / image processing / export formats
Just like Prizmo, Prizmo Remix comes a plethora of tools for processing documents. Advanced OCR options are available: reliable & accurate on-device OCR with machine learning and high-performance cloud-based OCR that even comes with very accurate handwriting recognition in even more languages. This can be handy for scanning course transcripts and searching through them.
About image processing, cleanup comes with a number of options like full-color documents, gray scale or black & white conversion. Have a workflow for receipts for instance, for when you just need crisp black text and smaller file size. Also, DPI can be reduced after OCR is performed, giving you both highly accurate text and smaller files, which is typically beyond the reach of standard scanning software.
The variety of supported export formats lets you handle PDF with overlaid text (OCR), of course, with some more advanced PDF options like password protection and JBIG2 B&W outputs (typically less than 50KB per page), but also the usual image or raw text formats, as well as DOCX that preserve the layout of the original document for further editing.
Page grouping, manual editing
When running a workflow, Prizmo Remix waits for outputs from your scanner app. Workflows can be set up to respect page groups as they arrive, meaning that if you have 3 documents of 5 pages, you scan them as 3 distinct groups using the device feeder, and Prizmo Remix will recognise that and create 3 multipage documents. Or you can use other rules for each workflow, like if you want one output per page.
Workflows can be run silently, outputting files in the configured destination folder, doing all processing behind the scenes. But Prizmo Remix also lets you use the scan editor to interact with the scanned content before final export. That way, you can tune each document title, specifically tag new documents to train the AI classifier or just review its results, and apply specific image processing or OCR.
Pricing model
Prizmo Remix for Mac can be downloaded for free on the App Store, and offers either the Pro Pack, a one-time in-app purchase, or the Pro Plan subscription. It is also available on Setapp. The Pro Pack unlocks the on-device OCR and allows watermark-free outputs, while the Pro Plan enables the Cloud OCR for handwriting and many additional languages.
Additionally, any purchase in Prizmo Remix for Mac unlocks matching features in Prizmo for Mac, a separate app for in-depth scanned document editing.
