We provide this document to let you know the kinds of personal information we may gather, why we gather your information, what we use your personal information for, when we might disclose your personal information, and how you can manage your personal information.
Our website and apps purchased through App Store may offer an opt-in email newsletter, through which we send occasional updates about new and updated products and special offers.
Customers who purchased apps directly from our website or through app bundles are automatically notified by email when a paid upgrade or special offer is available. Users can opt-out of this mechanism (see below).
Otherwise, we will only send you email when responding to your support emails or for notifying you of important issues, such as security or billing problems.
Each email you receive from a mailing list of ours will contain an unsubscribe link that will instantly remove you from that list. You can also contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to be removed from any or all of our mailing lists.
We do not, and never will, share or otherwise exchange your email address with third-parties (except our payment processor contractor, who collects it as part of the purchase process to send you an activation code, see below).
Collection of Data
One of the basic principles we are following in our apps and website is that we ask for only the information we need to provide the service you’ve requested. As a result, what information we collect and store depends almost entirely on how you choose to make use of our website and our apps.
In addition to information which you explicitly and knowingly provide, our website and apps may collect additional data, personal or non-personal, as expressed below.
We don’t share your data with anyone except to comply with the law or protect our rights.
Collection & Use of Non-Personal Data
Non-personal data is information that cannot be used to uniquely identify a specific individual.
Our website uses Google Analytics to anonymously gather usage patterns and flow. You can find Google Analytics policies here
Our iOS apps optionally use Google Analytics to anonymously gather usage patterns. We do this because it helps us figure out which features are used most in our apps and focus our efforts on those. You can opt-out of usage pattern collection through app Settings > Help & Support > Diagnosis & Usage > Send Usage Data (switch it off). Our Mac apps don’t gather usage patterns at this time.
Our apps optionally collect anonymised crash reports to help us fix issues using App Store built-in mechanism (user opt-in required) and HockeyApp (user decides whether to send the crash report on next app launch). You can find their respective privacy policies here: App Store, HockeyApp.
Collection & Use of Personal Data
Personal data is information that can be used to uniquely identify a specific individual.
Our server doesn’t collect any kind of personal user information (email, passwords, contact information, contacts, location…) with the exception of Mac app activation described below in this section.
Our apps may need to locally store passwords (on the device) when no other preferable solution is available (like OAuth), in which case they do it securely using the Keychain or similar mechanism.
Payment for apps bought on the App Store (Mac / iOS) are processed by Apple.
Access / Processing of Personal Data
Our apps require or optionally need photo / microphone / geolocation / device sensors / access to user generated contents. This information is solely processed to provide standard photo capture, video capture (with sound), speech recognition (device-based, no network), and photo/video geotagging or other editing features. In no case is this information ever sent to our server or any other server for any purpose.
Our apps may explicitly require access to your Dropbox, Evernote, iCloud account or any other cloud storage account (on your request) to provide specific features. Our apps may access, process, update your data on your behalf, but our apps don’t use or access this data otherwise. No sharing of personal data is performed without user consent other than through specific user-initiated actions.
We take security seriously, and use several measures to protect your data. Passwords are never stored on our servers. Activation data (email / activation code association) for apps purchased directly with us, as opposed to App Store, are stored encrypted on our server.
Belgian law shall govern in any and all disputes, including privacy or defamation issues or otherwise.
